you are never alone

Nature-Connected Guidance & Healing

What is home? Do I have a home?
Why can't I seem to fit in no matter where I go?

Why are there no words in any human language that can adequately describe who I am, where I've been and what I'm going through now?

Will anyone ever be able to understand me?
Will I ever be welcome anywhere as all of me?
Will I ever be able to belong - in any place, in any community, in my physical body?

my heart is open to you

fellow human struggling with questions of belonging & alienation

no matter your story or background
no matter how long you’ve carried the story of aloneness
and rootlessness

Just as the first seed of day begins to arise when night reaches its deepest state, it is often in the deepest alienation that we begin to discover our true belonging. Most likely, there is nothing about you which needs changing or fixing — rather, it is about coming into contact with the belonging that is always already present. What is there beneath all the layers of active doing and striving to find the answer? What answers are already here all around you, in your inner and outer natures, waiting to be perceived by a quiet and relaxed mind?

🪷

I can support you to slow down,
reconnecting with the stillness of your inner nature,
zooming out from all culturally-specific narratives,
grounding into the wisdom and perspective of Earth,
who has witnessed and supported life for billions of years

🐾

I have a heartfelt wish,
for the privilege to walk alongside you,
as migrant, diaspora, alien, visible minority, in exile —
as someone who is reclaiming what it means to belong
in a world of concrete jungles, high-tech border walls
and human beings reduced to numbers in digital clouds
I see you, stranger who is lost and bewildered in this surreal landscape
You don’t have to do this alone — together we can find a gentler way to be

Breathing in, I notice the out-breath of the trees.
Breathing out, I notice the in-breath of the trees.
The trees are breathing me, and I am breathing them.

Noticing the physical sensations of breathing, I become aware of all the human bodies alive on Earth at this very moment, breathing, just like my own body.

Noticing any thoughts or emotions present at this moment, I am aware that billions of living, breathing humans also think and feel, just like me.

Breathing in, I practice receiving: "I am not alone in this world".
Breathing out, I practice offering: "You are not alone in this world".

1-1 guidance & coaching sessions

Introductory conversation

Interested in exploring how I can support you? Feel free to find a time directly in my calendar. I am happy to answer any specific questions you have, share anything more which interests you about my background and approach, and give you time to get an embodied sense of what working with me is like.

If you cannot find an available time that works for you, please reach out by email or the contact form on this website and I’ll be happy to work something out.

This meeting may be up to 60 minutes and is free of charge.

Single session (60 min)

In general, we’ll meet for 60 minutes at a time, to explore whatever you need, and I’ll offer specific practices & techniques based on what is needed. We generally meet online — or, if you live close by, we can also meet in person. It’s also possible to book 2-3 sessions in a row so we have a longer block of time together.

In the next section I show a few examples of specific topics you could bring, as well as practices I could invite us to try out during our time together.

Cost of a single session: sliding scale range 50-100€

Free or by-donation sessions

When capacity allows, I try to maintain some availability each month for anyone who feels unable —for whatever reason — to contribute the standard session fee, but feels a strong motivation to work with me. These sessions are just like paid sessions, there is no catch or hidden agenda to them. If you received something of value from our time together and would like to give a tip or donation of any amount, it is appreciated but not expected.

To honour my time & energy commitment: no-shows or late cancellations (less than 24h) will be charged 50€.

empowering you to be your own healer

1-1 courses & learning

Learn shamanic journeying

Shamanic journeying is a method of making direct contact and respectful communication with the world of spirit. It can be learned by anyone, regardless of cultural background or level of prior experience with [eco]spirituality. Over a series of 6 sessions, each lasting 2-3 hours, you will learn the basics of the shamanic journeying technique and be able to develop a regular personal practice in support of your own healing and spiritual well-being.

The cost of the full series is 400€.

This course is mostly designed for beginners and is meant to be an introduction to shamanic practice. It does not teach you “how to be a shaman” or how to perform shamanic healing on others. If you already have a personal journeying practice and are interested in exploring additional shamanic learning or healing work with me - book a regular 1-1 session.

Learn Reiki 1

I also offer Reiki 1 as a 1-1 training that can be completed in 2 whole days or 4 half days (4 x 3 hours), according to your learning and scheduling preferences. If a weekend course together with a group of strangers sounds like too much & too fast, this might be a good option for you.

Here you can read more about Reiki 1.

The cost of 1-1 Reiki 1 training is 300€ in-person and 250€ if online.

If you have taken Reiki 1 in the past and are feeling in need of additional guidance or a “refresher course”, this may be possible in less time and cost than the full 12 hours. We can explore what would be best for you in an introductory meeting.

What is possible in 60 mins?

What & how we can explore together

Belonging & alienation can be explored on 3 levels: to our bodies, to other human beings, and to the more-than-human world.

In a single session, we may end up zooming in on or around one specific level — with the understanding that there are no fixed boundaries between them. A holistic ecology recognises that what happens on one level directly impacts all others. Ultimately, the boundaries between our individual self, social self, & planetary self are also porous and fluid by nature. Healing any one part also contributes to healing the whole.

The “what” examples below are illustrative, to give you a better sense of my “flavour” of embodied guidance and how it may differ from others. It is not an exhaustive list.

What: Alienation from our bodies

🍂 Feeling like you were born in the wrong physical form — wrong planet, wrong species, wrong biological sex, etc
🍂 Grief and loss surrounding physical limitations caused by chronic pain, ageing, illness & other disability
🍂 Long-term stress & tension stored in the body — struggling to relax / slow down / “do nothing” / rest, ….

What: Alienation from other human beings

🍂 Experiences of being a visible minority in society: racial, cultural, linguistic, sexuality & gender expression, disability…
🍂 Impacts of migration background & geographical mobility on personal relationships and sense of cultural identity
🍂 Longing for heart-centred human relationships based on being deeply seen & understood

What: Alienation from the more-than-human world / greater community of life

🍂 Struggling to find a place on Earth or a house that feels like home
🍂 Loss of contact with ancestral land-based spiritual traditions
🍂 Navigating sociopolitical complexity in personal [eco]spiritual practice & land relationships
🍂 Feeling disconnected from nature as a result of living in urbanised & digitalised landscapes

How: we can reclaim your belonging together

🌱 through partnership with nature: being outside together or inviting the outside in, somatic awareness & processing with an ecological focus, guided [shamanic] journeying to connect with nature & recognising your own nature
🌱 through deep relaxation: EcoNIDRA, [distance] reiki, sound healing with crystal instruments
🌱 through sharing & exchanging experiences: being deeply present with you as you share what’s on your heart, bringing my reflections & curiosities & resonance, sharing relevant resources & practical tools
🌱 through creativity: authentic relating games, tarot & oracle card readings, journalling and art prompts
🌱 through empowering you to be your own healer: mentorship & coaching for your existing personal spiritual practices — mindfulness & meditation, ritual & ceremony in daily life, nature connection & outside time, discussion of any modalities we both practice

A typical session structure

🌲 Checking in + time to describe any specific topic you want to explore
🌲 One or more themes or practices we explore together based on your needs
🌲 Concluding with an integration practice you can try out in your own time

Questions you may have

  • I am currently based in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

All 1-1 sessions can be done both online and in-person.

For in-person meetings, we agree on a location based on what feels most appropriate or supportive for your needs. It can be outdoors, in nature or in the city. It can be in your own space, as well as in mine. For meetings outside of Utrecht, I would request an additional fee to cover travel expenses.

  • “Therapy”, “therapist”, “counselling” and “counsellor” are not licensed professions in the Netherlands - any use of such terms on this website do not imply that our practice here (nature-based holistic wellness) falls within the scope of licensed mental health professionals.

Most frequently, when I receive this question, it comes from a culturally-specific understanding of "therapy" as shorthand for "licensed clinical mental health therapy". I am NOT a licensed provider of mental health services in any part of the world. I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and do not ground my work here in the western mental health paradigm. My role is to walk alongside you as a co-traveller, sharing practices and inviting perspectives from a wide range of cultures and frameworks, which you may experience as supportive, healing or therapeutic.

In my lineage of Forest Therapy we say that “The Forest is the Therapist, the Guide opens the doors”. I am here to support you in finding, opening and walking through the door to your own therapeutic relationships with the more-than-human world.

  • In general, I don’t turn anyone away on the basis of lack of funds alone. At the same time, I have to balance my deep desire to be available to those who might be in most need, with my body’s need to stay materially resourced and continue walking this path in an energetically sustainable way.

I make a small number of hourly slots available for free or by-donation sessions each month — feel free to check back another time if you don’t see any availability now.

Otherwise, reduced rates or the possibility of trading offerings can be explored on a case-by-case basis.

  • Sure, if you’d like to purchase 6 sessions up-front, I’m happy to offer you one “for free” (6 for the price of 5). This can be discussed in an intro call :)

  • Belonging and alienation are universal themes of human experience that affect everyone regardless of the specific nuances of our background. The nuance of my background as a queer migrant of colour is that keeping up an appearance (or illusion) of “conforming” or “fitting in” to any dominant culture’s standards has never been possible — neither in childhood nor adulthood. As a result, I have almost never tried to pursue this — instead, from the earliest age possible, I started to seek out mentors and examples of creative & non-normative ways of living and being.

In my own journey, I have learned a lot from people for whom their reason for “not being able to fit in” is less glaringly obvious to others at first sight — specifically because it creates a context which is so different from my own, and yet arrives at the same consequence of feeling alienated.

If you relate to the themes and practices I work with but not my background, I am happy to accompany you on your journey, curious about what we can learn from each other & the shared humanity we will discover.

[T]he sole precluding requirement for that relationship of belonging we call "native" is the individual's deepest experiencing of place, their giving back to place, and promising themselves to place. This relationship I call home, like any relationship, is a reciprocal sharing requiring the involvement and approval of both the person and the place […] being "native"--"belonging"--means both gifting to and being accepted by the spirits of the land. Such acceptance requires attention and time, but it is ours to find.
