Reiki + Sound Therapy
60-minute hands-on Reiki in Oslo, beginning with around 10 minutes of optional Tibetan singing bowls played on the body.
The art of non-doing
When was the last time you gave yourself an entire hour to do absolutely nothing in the middle of the day? No scrolling, no podcasts, no external distractions, no consciously thinking about a problem or planning the future.
I typically explain my understanding of โhow Reiki worksโ in a very simple way: when we give our mind and body the gift of time & space to do nothing, time to simply receive care & attention โ something happens, which can be at times difficult to put into words or understand intellectually.
โEnergy healingโ is one set of words which can be used to describe what happens in a Reiki session. Another way I sometimes describe it is โbody doubling for non-doingโ and โa meditation that someone else does for youโ. To receive a Reiki treatment, one is typically laying or sitting down in a position that is as comfortable as possible. As the recipient, you do not need to do anything, think about anything, focus on anything, move your body in any way, be aware of the time, or even try to stay awake.
I place my hands very lightly on your body in a way that you are comfortable with, and hold each position for 3-5 minutes at a time. My body stays relaxed and present, and communicates directly with your body: I am here for you. Gently inviting your body to join me in a state of deeper presence and relaxation.
In my practice, I do not actively try to clear or balance your energy system or make anything specific happen. My perspective on how energy healing occurs is simply that the less tension we hold, the better everything flows, and then clearing and rebalancing occurs on its own. So, I focus on being present with you in the moment, body to body, keeping my touch gentle and relaxed โ โdoing nothingโ alongside you.
Receiving care in your own way
A Reiki session is also an opportunity to experience being in embodied relational contact with another human being with zero effort, masking or performance required. This can be particularly powerful for those who are experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, or a strong tendency towards โpeople-pleasingโ and becoming disconnected from oneโs own body and needs when in the presence of another person.
It is not possible to โdo it wrongโ when receiving Reiki โ whatever experience you have in the moment is the right one, and there is also no pressure to share or talk about it afterwards unless you want to. It is quite common to fall asleep during the session and have a desire to remain quiet for some time afterwards.
While laying down to receive, my only invitation to you is to take care of yourself and possibly notice what you need to feel safer and more supported in any given moment. If at any point you want to stop or change something, I encourage you to let me know; otherwise, I will not be speaking during this time, nor do anything with my or your body that we have not agreed upon beforehand. There is no conversation to maintain, no need to make yourself interesting, no need to reciprocate, and no need to take care of me.
To support arriving and grounding, I offer to start each session by drawing an oracle card (with an image of some kind to reflect on), followed by 10 minutes of a vibrational massage by playing Tibetan singing bowls on your body. Most people find this helps with settling into a receptive and relaxed state, particularly if you are someone who finds it challenging to be physically still for longer periods of time. This part is optional, if for whatever reason it does not feel supportive for your body.
This might be for you ifโฆ
You are exhausted, burned out, experiencing compassion fatigue, perpetually behind on sleep, or in some other way in need of deep rest โ while struggling to find time and space for it in your daily life;
You find it difficult to stop doing things even when you know you need to take a break;
You often feel disconnected from your body or have difficulty noticing your own needs;
You want to practice receiving care, rather than always being the one who gives it;
You are curious about experiencing an hour of quiet, low-demand contact with another person;
You are curious about meditative practices that involves minimal active effort;
You are interested in experiencing Reiki from a grounded and somatically oriented perspective.

Arriving together
A check-in about what brings you here and any intentions you are carrying. Explaining practicalities of what to expect, and clarifying any boundaries or contraindications.
I invite you to draw a card from an oracle deck of your choice, and spend a few moments noticing what comes up for you as you look at the image, to support marking a transition between โordinary consciousnessโ and a meditative one.
A time dedicated to receiving care
We usually begin with around 10 minutes of sound therapy, but this can be longer or shorter according to your preference.
I invite you to lay face-up on a massage table โ with as many blankets and pillows as you wish. I usually give Reiki by placing my hands on various points around your body and holding still for several minutes at a time, working downwards from the head to the feet. We will agree beforehand if there are specific areas of the body that want extra attention, or do not want to be touched.
Returning to the rest of the day
When you feel ready to step off the massage table, I invite you to look again at the image on the card that was drawn, simply to notice how it is now, and if anything has changed โ as an anchor for the experience and to mark a transition back into ordinary consciousness.
You are welcome to give feedback and share anything about your experience. I can also offer resources or practices that may support integration, if this is requested.

FAQs
-
In person only, in Oslo. I have a dedicated office / treatment room in my home.
-
I recommend dressing in comfortable clothing, and anything else that would support your body to relax during the session.
-
It is not recommended to play sound healing instruments on or close to the body if you are currently pregnant, recovering from surgeries or injuries, have a pacemaker or metal implants.
-
Mostly Reiki; around 10 minutes of singing bowls at the beginning.
-
Both sessions combine Reiki with another practice, but the experience is quite different. Reiki + Sound is centred more on deep rest and somatic work, with Tibetan singing bowls and hands-on Reiki. This is offered only in-person.
In Shamanic Reiki, I undertake a shamanic journey while you receive Reiki. There is minimal physical touch, the session can be experienced entirely online, and my voice is what guides you into a relaxed state rather than my hands. The focus here is more on the creative and imaginal, than on the somatic layer.

No, skeptics are totally welcome. Try it out for yourself and see what happens, and please donโt take anything I write or say at face value.

You are not alone โ many people wonder about this! The vibrational massage with the singing bowls often helps with this, because of the way in which it delivers sensory stimulation to the body. I like to start with it for precisely this reason. I usually play the bowls on the body for 10 minutes, but it can be longer if you prefer.
-
No, this part is optional (as is everything else, of course). If the deep vibrations feel too overstimulating, I can also play them close by, above, or around (rather than on) your body.
And, if you have the contraindications listed above, then we will skip this part entirely.

You are welcome to return whenever you feel that this kind of space would be supportive for you. Some people find it helpful to dedicate a regular time on their schedule โ such as weekly, biweekly, monthly โ to having this hour of dedicated non-doing, non-performing, non-efforting, receiving of care and warmth in the presence of another person.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.
